Waterloo Global Science Initiative (WGSI) has been catalyzing collective action since 2009. We bring people with diverse viewpoints together, prompting multi-disciplinary, inclusive collaboration to address sustainable development challenges. By combining the results of these cross-cutting conversations with the latest scientific and technological innovations, our network makes ideas come to life to address the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The SDGs are an interconnected set of goals that are the blueprint to achieve a better and more sustainable future for all. WGSI proudly takes a generational outlook to problem solving.
For our first #12days4good, the WGSI team is looking forward to a day of community activities connected to the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals. Through our Power Shift WR campaign, we help local organizations build the SDGs into their work. We also help them translate the global goals into local solutions, thinking broadly about what sustainability means here in Waterloo Region—from food security and climate action to infrastructure and community belonging. During #12days4good we will be delivering Christmas hampers for the House of Friendship in an electric vehicle then using transit to travel across the community to tour some of our favourite local parks, businesses, and public spaces. Follow us on Twitter (@wgsisummit) to see highlights from all our adventures, learn about local connections to the SDGs, and ways we can support our community!
