This year we were approached with the idea of participating in #12days4good.  We immediately knew we wanted to be involved and jumped on board. The Bridge is a non-profit organization that services youth ages 14 to 24 in the Leamington and greater area.  We offer housing supports, basic needs, education and employment services, addiction and mental health supports, as well as social inclusion activities.  This year, in partnership with the Stay Gold Society, we are making and distributing Christmas cards for residents of the Sun Parlor Long-Term Care Home.

Throughout November and early December, the youth of The Bridge used their creativity to make and decorate Christmas Cards.  The youth were excited about this project and surpassed expectations by creating 150 cards, which included thoughtful and meaningful messages for the recipients. On our #DoGooder day, December 19, The Bridge youth will visit with the residents of Sun Parlor to personally deliver the Christmas cards and wish them a happy and safe holiday season.

The youth of the Bridge have asked to visit with the elderly on a number of occasions, as part of their desire to be more involved in their community. They understand that there are others in need and want to give back to the community that has given so much to them. Through our good deed we hope to spread Christmas cheer to those who are often forgotten during the holiday season, lifting their spirits and sharing best wishes.
